Whistler, BC. The birthplace of Hektor + Helena, and our happy place.  

Living between Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia with alpine skiing being a central piece of their way of life, the resort town of Whistler and its accompanying world-class mountains (Whistler and Blackcomb) have been the set and setting for many of the couple's best-shared memories and creative endeavours. Little known is the fact that Whistler is the largest ski resort in North America, and with Mike having been a semi-professional alpine ski racer and coach in his earlier years, Whistler was naturally an important destination.  It's where Mike proposed to Lesley and where at the end of an incredible powder day on the mountain the idea for Hektor + Helena was born while Mike was staring at their luggage.  

Getting to Whistler from Vancouver takes about 1.5 hours by car and 20 minutes by seaplane (HarbourAir.com). If you like driving, the Sea to Sky highway is spectacular. If you're like the H|H team and enjoy driving fast as much as skiing fast (or boarding, if you must) be careful: the traffic police are out in force and the highway is often closed due to accidents. For some unknown reason, North American road engineers have yet to figure out the safety utility of concrete or metal dividers on the most dangerous sections of highway, but alas,  we shall not digress any further into our strong feelings regarding this topic.
