Tagliatelle with Mushrooms & Sage Butter


  • 1/2 cup hazelnuts
  • 1 pound tagliatelle pasta
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 12 sage leaves
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 pound mixed mushrooms, such as shiitake, oyster and crimini sliced
  • 1 large clove garlic minced
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 cup-1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1/4 cup-1/2 cup grated Parmesan

This is a great fall dinner (or for date night). We don't typically eat a lot of pasta in the summer unless we are in Italy but as soon as September hits, our cravings come back in full force. 


2016 Fritzi's Vineyard Pinot Noir

We signed up as Wine Members for Martins Lane Vineyard earlier this summer. Their Fritzi Riesling is delicate and absolutely lovely.

Newly Discovered:

Oca Pastificio - Commercial Drive, Vancouver BC

We had the most delicious 5-course pasta tasting menu here. It started with some cured meats and house pickled veggies and then followed a Gorgonzola Salad. They specialize in house made pasta and we would definitely recommend trying the tasting menu. It's a small atmosphere that gets loud, which is typically the type of atmosphere that we enjoy.
